Practical examples display the clash of basic rights at the Free2choose exhibition

In addition to the historic rooms, where the history of Anne Frank is central, there are other exhibitions in the museum. An exhibition with a current theme is the interactive exhibition 'Free2choose'.

History teaches us that freedom and democracy are inseparable. Citizens of every democratic society are guaranteed a number of fundamental rights under the law. These include, for instance: freedom of speech, religious freedom and the right to privacy.

Yet, is there a limit to these basic human rights? What happens when fundamental rights conflict with each other? Or if the security of a democratic society is threatened? Free2choose presents current examples, from around the world, of fundamental rights that clash with safeguarding democratic rule of law. This exhibition explores the present-day boundaries of freedom.
