During a symposium held in Amsterdam to the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the published diary of Anne Frank, the final debate addressed the magic of the book. What possible explanations can be found for its huge success?
Speakers pointed to the intimate character of the text, to Otto Frank’s role in spreading the book and to its literary quality. They had al read the diary when they were young, but it was only now - after rereading it for the symposium – that they were struck by its literary qualities. Together they pleaded for more attention for the writer Anne Frank.
One of the speakers was Arjan Peters, literary reviewer for the Dutch newspaper ‘De Volkskrant’ and former student of the R.C. Anne Frank School in Heemskerk
I wish that Anne Frank could sill be living right this very moment. I own the movie ‘Anne Frank; The Whole Story’ and I love it. Not because she dies, but because I felt her spirit around me and want her to be with us in person. I know her spirit is with me right now because I love Anne Frank like I was her sister.

I’m reading the book Anne Frank in school now and I love it! I am in the middle of a project which was due for tomorrow and this website really did help! thanks! I think in the book so far Anne can be very mean about the people that she writes about, but I know she didn’t think that anyone would ever read it! But I really enjoy the book so far and I would really like to visit the secret annexe!

I recently finished reading Anne’s book and I was very moved by her words, so wise for someone so young. What a terrible ordeal they all had to go through, something none of us can claim to understand. I can’t help wondering what sort of person Anne would have become had she survived the war. I felt honored to have shared some of Anne’s past with her and wept when I turned the final page. I live in the UK but will be visiting the annexe some time next year.

i think that the diary of Anne Frank is an incredible story. When i first read it i thought it was boring but in the middle it really got interesting. And i found out at the end that she died i was very sad and mad because i thought she did a lot for a bunch of people. and im glad that her story still lives because without it i wouldn’t be the confedent person that i am today
i would love to thank Anne Frank for making me change. And i hope she smiles above.
R.I.P Anne Frank
i think that the diary is helpful to think that the people were suffering in the past and in the present people are still suffering in this time what i’m trying to say is that appreciate what you have in this time and think and pray to god that thanks for not letting me be in that time!!!
Anne Frank must be given more attention because she spent nearly the whole of her hiding years in writing to Kitty , the diary . I am fond of Anne Frank ’s books now !
it was a good book and i enjoyed it!
adorable.
i loved it,
Anne Frank’s life story is sad. My great grandma was alive during the Holocaust. She wrote a diary too, but it was burned by the nazis. She hid in a barn untill they came and chased her into a field. Then they shot her. My Grandma and her sisters could take a boat to America for $1.50, which was a lot of money to them. Now my grandma is safe at home and tells her stories to everyone.
I feel a lot of sympathy for Anne Frank. Her diary is a great remembrance. I am 43 and I study the Holcaust and everything about it. It is very sad but I think that it is interesting.
I loved the diary of anne frank I’ve read it 5 times and still dont get bored of it. I find parts inspiring.
It’s amazing! How Anne could say one word and it would just make you feel like you’re talking to an adult. Her words were strong and powerful, they really meant something to me.
Anne always knew what to say, she was smart and pretty and always said what was on her mind.
She gave a picture of what her life was about. You know when you really think…. Your life is great and its going to get even better but I don’t think anyone ever realizes what or how great it is to be alive. And yeah I never stop to think about it but I do try to enjoy life and try to do things that may just have a little effect on the world. And that’s what Anne did, she may not be a star or be perfect but by just saying one word, just one, it changed everything…
Now stop and think…. see one word does make everything different!
I really like this sad and horrible story, we should pray for her right now to wish her the best in heaven.
I think Anne franks story is sad but brilliant
