The film about Erin Gruwell’s project will be released in Dutch theatres 8 March 2007. The director of the film, Richard LaGravenese, will attend a special screening of the film ‘Freedom Writers’.
The film tells the story of Erin Gruwell. As a young and idealistic teacher, she starts working in a Californian school. Her students are unmotivated and feel like they are alone with their problems.
On 25 June 2007 it will be 60 years since the diary of Anne Frank was published for the first time. In the course of time it has grown to become a source of inspiration for both young and old. On http://www.annefranktree.com/ you can see poems and drawings by people who feel inspired by Anne Frank. Or they leave a leaf. Also, the Anne Frank Schools present themselves on this website.
Title ‘Anne Frank School’
We will take the 60th anniversary as an opportunity to increase the number of Anne Frank Schools. To do this, we will introduce the possibility to add the title ‘Anne Frank School’ to the name of the school. The title is meant for schools that want to become Anne Frank Schools, but that cannot officially change their names.
How do you see the world? With the photo contest ‘Sources of Inspiration’ 2007 the Anne Frank House invites young people from all over the world to visualize themes such as freedom, goodness, giving, courage, happiness, humanity and usefulness… Anne Frank wrote about these things in her diary.
