Erin Gruwell is an American educator known for her unique teaching method, which led to the publication of Freedom Writers Diary (1999). Inspired by Anne Frank’s story, Gruwell and her students captured their collective journey in The Freedom Writers Diary. The 2007 film Freedom Writers is based on her inspirational story.
