My family and I are currently traveling around Europe. A few weeks ago when in Amsterdam we visited Anne Frank House and I struggled to connect as I had never read the diary properly, so I bought it at the bookshop. Tonight I reached the end and I am distraught. Anne has been a friend to me, and it feels like losing a loved one. I so wish I could have known her, and so saddened by her fate. However I am proud for her and the legacy that she has left - this ordinary girl who was at the same time, amazing.

Today I am 60 years old and I visited the Anne Frank house for the first time. It has been a dream of mine to come here since I was 8 years old and read her diary for the first time. Today I hope everyone remembers to fight against all forms of bigotry. This is my birthday wish.

Thank you for the opportunity to explore the Secret Annex on line and to hear more of the history and stories. I have loved Anne Frank and her writing since I was a little girl. Now that I am disabled, I will probably not get the chance to see the House in real life. Thank you so much for this futher glimpse into her life.
