Anti-Semitism
There is not a lot of anti-Semitism in Amsterdam, but it does exist. There are several fascist groups who turn on Jews either with violence or with propaganda. The NSB is also suspected of having anti-Semitic sympathies but its leader, Mussert, disassociates himself from this. From the beginning of the occupation Jewish shops, cafés and monuments in Amsterdam are regularly attacked. The Jewish community tends to ignore this at first. In 1941 there is a big fight when members of the WA go into the Jewish neighbourhood and are met by Jewish gangs.
