Helpers in the office
The people in hiding in the secret annex are helped by Otto Frank’s employees, together with Jan Gies. They work in the offices on the first floor of the business premises on the Prinsengracht 263.
The Opekta and Gies & Co warehouses are on the ground floor and the second floor. The warehouse employees have no idea that there are eight Jews hiding in the building. Only the warehouse manager knows. He’s Bep Voskuijl’s father and she works in the office.
Huge risk
The helpers try to make the lives of the people in hiding as comfortable as possible. This is very dangerous: there are severe punishments for helping Jews and the helpers are taking a huge risk.
