Cas Oorthuys - Photographer Cas Oorthuys arrested
Shortly after the birth of his daughter Fenna, Cas Oorthuys is arrested. He ends up in Camp Amersfoort after short stays in detention centres on the Weteringschans and the Amstelveenseweg.
Cas is involved in three resistance groups, but is set free after three months. This is almost certainly because of the intervention of Nico de Haas an SS’er who Cas knew from his time with the Internationale Rode Hulp (International Red Aid). With a shaved head and smelling of disinfectant Cas arrives home at Amstel 3. He has pleurisy and several other health problems.
