Library collection

The collection covers the following themes:

Anne Frank
The library of the Anne Frank House has an extensive collection concerning Anne Frank, made up of:

  • The Dutch editions of the diary of Anne Frank, from the first edition of 1947 to the most recent edition, which includes five pages that were never published before.
  • A large number of editions of the many translations of the diary, as well as the stage and film adaptations.
  • A wealth of material – biographies, memoires, monographs, articles, newspaper cuttings, documents and audiovisual recordings – connected with the life of Anne Frank, her family and the other people in hiding in the secret annexe, helpers, witnesses and the diary.
  • Material on the history of the Anne Frank House.

Holocaust education
The library has a large collection of written and audiovisual material on the persecution of the Jews and Holocaust education. This material is not only for the use of the employees of the Anne Frank House, but can also be consulted by schoolchildren, students, educators, researchers, journalists and other interested parties.

Extremism and radicalism
One of the aims of the library of the Anne Frank House is to provide systematic and generally accessible documentation on extremism and radicalism in the Netherlands and neighbouring countries, in so far as these have a connection with the multicultural society and interethnic relations. The library has an extensive and unique collection of material in this field. The cuttings archive, which has been maintained from 1980 to the present day, has been consulted by hundreds of visitors in the past, and still serves as a source for a wide range of users, including journalists, researchers, policymakers, lawyers, students and schoolchildren. The cuttings archive is accessible in digital form, and cuttings can also be consulted at the library. The collection also includes a large collection of books, articles, periodicals and audiovisual material.

Racism and racial discrimination
The Anne Frank House has a long tradition of monitoring and providing information on developments in the field of racism and discrimination. The library therefore has a large amount of information on racism, anti-Semitism, racial discrimination, racist violence, anti-discrimination legislation and combating racism and discrimination. This includes books and brochures, teaching materials and aids for educational and social-cultural work, articles from newspapers and periodicals, research reports, academic works and audiovisual material.
