Travelling exhibitions and activities
The Anne Frank – A History for Today travelling exhibition had its grand opening in Rayong in Thailand in March 2016. The exhibition has been to several different locations. At the event at Mahidol University, a Free2Choose-Create film workshop was added to the Anne Frank project.
The travelling exhibition
With the help of the Dutch community in the country, the tour of the travelling exhibition Anne Frank - a History for Today exhibition was launched at the St. Andrews International School Green Valley in Rayong, on 16 March 2016.
After the Green Valley School, another St. Andrews International School, the Sukhumvit in Bangkok, hosted the exhibition in September and October 2016. For the occasion, students prepared and published exceptional pieces of work about the theme of the project.
On Monday 3 October, Karel Johannes Hartogh, Ambassador of the Netherlands in Thailand, opened the exhibition and gave a very personal and moving speech. The school choir sang songs and students recited passages from the Diary.
Next to the exhibition panels, space was reserved for artworks and other objects created by students, thus making the event even more special and emotional. Representatives and students from other schools in Bangkok visited the exhibition over the following weeks.
The exposition then toured on to Berkeley International School for the last two months of 2016, where it was a great success once again.
Free2choose and Free2choose-Create
In March 2017, as a side event to the exhibition presentation, a conference was held for educators and students at Mahidol University International College in Nakhon Pathom. About 30 students participated in the two-day seminar, where they took part in various interactive activities that focused on the relevance of learning about the life of Anne Frank and the history of the Holocaust within the context of their own society. Several assignments were related to the Free2Choose-Create project, with the participants for instance being introduced to tools such as the opinion line or the fishbowl.
