How much time should I allow for a visit to the Anne Frank House?
A visit to the Anne Frank House usually takes around an hour.

Why are there no longer any original objects in the Secret Annexe?
During the war, the houses of deported Jews were stripped of their contents, which were sent to Germany. The furniture, carpets and other items from the Secret Annexe also disappeared in this way. When Otto Frank saw the Secret Annexe again after the war, he wanted it to remain empty.

Will the Anne Frank House will remain open during the renewal project?
The museum will remain open. The Anne Frank House is preparing itself for a new generation of visitors by carrying out a major renewal project. We think it is important that the museum remains open for our visitors, and we are doing all we can to make sure the work is done with as little inconvenience as possible and without affecting the experience of the museum, but it may be that some items from our collection are temporarily not on display or some areas are temporarily closed. We apologize for this.

Do you provide audio tours in the museum?
Free audio tours are available in nine different languages, for all our visitors. We do not provide guided tours in the museum.

Is photography permitted in the Anne Frank House?
You are not allowed to take photos in the Anne Frank House. For many visitors, a visit to the Anne Frank House is an emotional experience, which could be disturbed by photography and filming. Photography and filming could be harmful to the sometimes fragile original artefacts in the Anne Frank House, with Anne Frank's original diary being the most obvious example.

Where is the diary of Anne Frank kept?
The diaries of Anne Frank and other writings, such as her ‘Favourite Quotes Notebook’ and ‘Tales Book’, are the property of the Dutch State, which gave them to the Anne Frank House on permanent loan in 2009.  Due to renewal activities in the museum, the original diaries are temporarily replaced by facsimiles.
