On Saturday, 18 July 1942, the people in hiding prepared a feast for Miep and Jan Gies in celebration of their first wedding anniversary. Auguste van Pels prepared the food and Anne typed the menu on an office typewriter. The first course was Bouillon à la Hunzestraat, named after Miep and Jan’s home address.
