History
Otto Frank had a longstanding interest in Japan and supported efforts to share Anne Frank’s story there, beginning with the publication of the Japanese translation of the Diary in the 1950s. He believed that Anne’s story could encourage dialogue, understanding, and reflection across cultures and generations. Building on this legacy, the traveling exhibition Anne Frank – A History for Today was first presented in Japan in 2009. Since then, the exhibition and a range of educational programs have reached schools, universities, and communities throughout the country, fostering discussions about the Second World War, human rights, prejudice, and democracy.
