Cinemas are off limits to Jews

Jan. 7, 1941 The Netherlands

As from 7 January 1941, Jews in the Netherlands were no longer allowed to go to the cinema. This new regulation had not been enforced by the Nazis, but by the Dutch Cinema Association. The reason given was that the Association wanted to avoid ‘disruptions’ of films featuring Germans or NSB members. The Jews were blamed for these disruptions. It was one of the first discriminatory measures against Jews.
