On 4 March 1939, a few young men smashed the windows of the Committee for Special Jewish Interests. The stones had been wrapped in sheets of paper with antisemitic texts. The men had been followed by detectives and were quickly apprehended. The police had tracked them down because they had also caused damage to other Jewish sites. In January 1939, they had daubed the statue of Jewish writer Herman Heijermans with paint and swastikas.
These young men were members of the national socialist splinter group NSNAP-Van Rappard. Four of them were sentenced to a couple of months in prison.
