Travelling exhibitions and activities
The Anne Frank House has been collaborating with Japanese partner organisations since the 1950s. The travelling Anne Frank exhibition started its tour in 2009 and is mainly shown in schools and universities.
Otto Frank and Japan
Otto Frank always had a strong interest in Japan. From the 1950s onwards, he supported the development of educational activities there, initially by promoting the Japanese translation of the Diary. Otto Frank had a particular interest in bringing the exhibition to a former aggressor. Even though he never visited Japan, he often received Japanese dignitaries in Amsterdam.
The travelling exhibition
The educational tour of Anne Frank - A History for Today was launched in December 2009 by the then Dutch Minister of European Affairs, Mr Frans Timmermans at the Sophia University of Tokyo, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the country. Subsequently, a great number of Japanese schools and universities have hosted the exhibition.
