We are deeply shocked by the terrorist attacks by Hamas on Israel. We call for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, including children. The gruesome images from Israel and Gaza mean emotions are running high, and peace seems further away than ever. We feel intense sympathy for the victims and their families. Humanitarian aid and the prevention of innocent civilian casualties are urgently needed. Let us continue to seek connection and dialogue, and continue to see 'the other' as a fellow human being. Increasing antisemitism, increasing hatred, increasing polarization do not make a constructive contribution in any way. That requires effort from us all.
