Monday 6 February 2023 the antisemitic text Ann Frank [sic], inventor of the ballpoint pen was projected for a few minutes on the Anne Frank House, the place where Anne Frank went into in hiding and wrote her diary. Footage of this has appeared in an antisemitic and racist video on a private Telegram group from the USA.
Suspect arrested of antisemitic projection
April 25, 2023 — On Tuesday morning, April 25th , the police had arrested a 41-year-old man in Poland on suspicion of involvement in projecting an antisemitic text on the Anne Frank House.
‘The diary of Anne Frank is one of the most important testimonies of the persecution of the Jews during the Second World War. With the projection and the video the perpetrators are attacking the authenticity of Anne Frank's diary and inciting hatred. We are grateful to the police for tracking down and arresting the suspect of the projection. The case is now in the hands of the judiciary.’
Background information
From extreme right-wing circles comes the claim that Anne Frank’s diary is a forgery because it was allegedly partly written with a ballpoint pen (which only came into use after the Second World War). This is pertinently untrue. With this they attempt to question or deny the existence of the Holocaust.
Much research has been done into the authenticity of the diary of Anne Frank, and its authenticity has been conclusively established.
